About Us
The Bank commenced business on 25th August 1975 in a two room structure at the postal address 106/382 (2nd Floor) Gandhi Nagar, P. Road Kanpur – 208012.
The Bank had the good fortune of getting its Registered Office and Main Branch inaugurated at the hands of Dr. J.P. Singh, IAS, the then Registrar, Co-operative Societies, Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow as mentioned below.
The Bank’s second branch at Sarvodaya Nagar (after the Main Branch at P. Road) was opened on 10th April 1980 at the hands of Smt. Sumita Kandpal, IAS, the then Commissioner and Administrator of Ram Ganga Command at Kanpur. The third branch at Kidwai Nagar came into existence on 3rd may 1980, Sri S.K.R. Zaidi, the then Manager, Reserve Bank of India, Kanpur presided over the opening ceremony.
Sri Subhash Kumar, IAS, the then Administrator, Nagar Mahapalika, Kanpur was the Chief Guest during the inauguration of the Halsey Road Branch, the fourth branch, on 20th October 1982. The Bank had the good fortune of having Sri Prabhat Kumar, IAS, the then Chairman Cum Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh State Textile Corporation Ltd. as the honoured Chief Guest on the occasion of the opening of the Parade Branch, the fifth branch, on 25th October 1982.
The Guest of Honour at the function for opening the Darshanpurwa Branch, the sixth branch, on 9th August 1984 was Sri V.K. Malhotra, IAS, the Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh State Textile Corporation Ltd., Sri B.B. Sinha, IAS, the then Registrar, Co-operative Societies, Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow who, with his benign presence, graced the occasion of the opening of Gaderianpurwa Branch, the seventh branch, on 14th August 1984.
The Colonel Gang Branch, the eighth branch, was opened on 2nd August 1989, the inauguration function was presided over by Sri B.B. Sinha, IAS, on this occasion as the then Commissioner of Kanpur Division.Guest of Honour at the function for opening of Panki branch on 23/03/2001 was Sri Mukul Singhal, IAS the then DM of Kanpur Nagar. The Vishwa Bank Barra branch was inaugurated by Sri Venkat Lu IAS the then Commissioner, Kanpur Division on 14/10/2009. Sri Ram Swaroop Vice Chairman Kanpur Development Authority inaugurated Lal Bangla branch on 03/03/2009. Bank’s Rawatpur branch was inaugurated by Sri Anil Kumar Sagar IAS the then DM of Kanpur Nagar on 18/02/2010.
The Bank took not only the initiative but also played a stellar role in the formation of the Uttar Pradesh Urban Co- operative Banks Federation Ltd. to act as the spokesperson of the urban co-operative movement/banks of the State. The Bank was and, is by and large, an active participant in the affairs of the Federation.
The Bank has always been alive to the well being of its staff, the fulcrum over which the aspect of customer service, very essential for the growth of a banking institution depends.
The Bank, as is expected of it, is discharging its functions or rather duties as an institution, for the upliftment of the deserving neglected down-trodden by providing them with need-based financial assistance on soft terms to enable them to combat the challenges before them and to succeed in their efforts for a better living.
For, like the Rainbow, Co-operation brings hope to the depressed, achieves harmony among diverse interests and offers the promise of an ultimate and universal peace.
The Bank entered the silver jubilee year of its existence on 25.08.1999. The occasion was celebrated at a function presided over by Sri V.K. Malhotra, IAS Commissioner, Kanpur division & graced by Honorable Sri Suraj Bhan, the then Governor of Uttar Pradesh as the Chief Guest. Honorable Prime Minister Sri Atal Bihari Bajpai, Sri Ram Kumar Verma Minister Co operative UP, Smt. Prem Lata Katiyar Minister Women and Child Development UP,Sri Prabhat Kumar Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Sawai Singh Sisodia President NAFUCB and many others obliged the Bank with their good wishes.
